About Me, the Flyest
Hey there! I’m Jocelyn—military officer, former C-17 pilot, current Uncrewed Systems pilot, world traveler, and watch enthusiast. My journey started in Colorado Springs, where I began my military career before heading to pilot training in Mississippi. From there, I landed my first real Air Force gig in California, and ever since, I’ve been on a constant cycle of packing up my life and starting fresh in a new place, trying to make the best of every situation.
As a career military officer and a certified homebody, I’ve somehow made a life out of moving every few years. Each new duty station comes with culture shocks, unexpected friendships, and the challenge of learning how to say "coffee" in a new language, but freezing up any time a normal interaction becomes--well, interactive. But no matter where I land, I try to find ways to make a place feel like home—whether through building community, buying up entire IKEA furniture sets, or just embracing the chaos of overseas living.
This blog is part travel diary, part survival guide, and part love letter to the weird and wonderful life of being a globe-trotting military service member. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to set up a new life in a foreign country while balancing military structure, family, and the occasional identity crisis—welcome! You’re in the right place.
